150' Flag Pole

Ourisman Chevrolet in Bowie MD had a 150' tall flag pole with a 30' X 60' American flag on the property of their dealership. The cable that holds the flag snapped and the flag fell to the ground. LMI responded quickly with the help from Johnson Crane Service to replace the cable and raise the flag back to the top of the pole.

Waste Oil Furnace

LMI hires a new Safety Director Will Brown Jr. LMI is committed to the safety of its employees and the public. Will is a great addition to our team. Will is a certified safety professional with 17 years of experience. He earned a Master’s of Science in Safety and Health from Marshall University in 1996. Will has worked for several notable contractors over the years and has managed safety on large scale projects such as the Inter County Connector project in Maryland.

LMI Responds to the City of Richmond

Yesterday, LMI crews responded to City of Richmond, VA officials in helping to re-energize the local neighborhoods. A tree had fallen and crushed a passenger vehicle, but was still connected and supported by overhead utility lines. LMI personnel moved their heavy equipment on the scene as the first to respond; relocating a wooden pole away from passenger vehicles and resetting the pole to allow other utilities to re-connect their neighborhood services. Another professional job well-done by LMI!

LMI recently purchased its 5th Directional Drill a Vermeer D9x13 Series II. This drill is much smaller than our D20x22 Series II and will allow us to maneuver and set up in tight spaces. The D9x13 Series II horizontal directional drill easily handles jobs in confined spaces, turning difficult jobsites into finished projects.

At a mere 35.5" (90.2 cm) in width, the D9x13 Series II has the narrowest footprint in its class. The D9x13 Series II is ideal for use on sensitive surfaces like lawns, golf courses, and sports fields, thanks to a robust undercarriage with oversized tracks. At 9" (22.9 cm) wide and 56" (142.2 cm) long, these tracks help disperse machine weight evenly, resulting in just 5.5 psi (.38 bar) of ground pressure and minimal surface disturbance.

Log While Drilling (LWD)

With our recent expansion LMI has converted all of it's drill head locators over to the DigiTrak F5. Thus being able to provide our customers with a complete data log of every bore. The Log While Drilling (LWD) software records the depth and pitch of each and every drill stem.

At the end of the workday this information is then uploaded to our pc’s, and can then be converted to CAD drawings for complete as-build. To include any existing utilities crossed as well as the depths and locations of them.

LWD is an excellent way to pin point shallow bores and track bore path consistency.

LMI now offers this to our customers on a daily, weekly, monthly or per job basis per the customer’s request at no additional charges, and these logs are also kept on file at our corporate office.

The work includes but is not limited to repairs to highway street lighting, exterior facility lighting, overhead sign lighting , bridge lighting, cable designation, cable fault locating and pole replacement, as well as maintenance of traffic to perform the repairs in Anne Arundel County. LMI is Awarded Rolling Valley Park

Rolling Valley Park

Fairfax County closes Rolling Valley Park due to life threatening pole failures. LMI is awarded contract to take down remaining poles before they fail and construct a new lighting system. The existing light poles at the park were approximately 30 years old and had extensive rust. Late 2009 one of the 70’ light poles blew over in the wind, because of holes eaten through the poles. As an emergency measure the County closed the park and requested LMI take down all the suspect poles. LMI’s highly specialized equipment was called in to use for this emergency project. A new Musco Sports Lighting System was provided and installed by LMI. The park was reopened for Spring Sports.
