As a Master Electrician with nearly 30 years of experience in commercial and governmental lighting services, this vice president and founding partner does more than sit at conference tables.
Mike personally supervises LMI’s project design and estimation processes, then coordinates and executes technical operations, making sure his 130-member team and 200+ piece of equipment inventory support the company’s customers throughout the mid-Atlantic region. He also stays involved in LMI’s marketing, fleet management, strategic alliances, engineering, technology development, and overall business development. He began his successful career by joining his father’s lighting business shortly after graduation. In 1991, he and his wife Hilary founded their own company and built it into the $17 million enterprise it is today. Licensed in multiple states and counties and familiar with governmental procurement guidelines, Mike has guided LMI through county and state bidding processes to procure contracts for the construction and maintenance of more than 200,000 lights in the metropolitan DC area. During the past decade, Mike has closely followed the emergence of LED lighting technology, from factory training to technical discussions with engineers and manufacturers. He is well equipped to select the proper LED fixtures for any situation, such as sports lighting, commercial lighting, or roadway applications. He has also negotiated teaming agreements with some of the country’s largest corporations and developed customized software for applications such as inventorying almost 90 percent of Virginia’s roadway lights in less than 8 weeks.
On a personal note, Mike makes a point of getting outdoors as much as he can, kayaking, biking, and ATV riding are a few local activities he enjoys. In early July, he goes backpacking and mountain climbing in Colorado for the past decade
