Bucket Truck Rescue Training

Today Lighting Maintenance Inc. (LMI)’s Safety Director Mike Crigger ran our Delmarva Crews through advanced Bucket Truck Rescue Techniques. The advanced techniques involve self-rescue from an elevated bucket within an Energized Zone. If a bucket is stuck in an Energized Zone (working near energized utilities) the Fire Department cannot attempt a rescue because their ladders are aluminum and will conduct electricity making a rescue extremely dangerous if not impossible. Any rescue within the Energized Zone must utilize insulated equipment, special high strength ropes are used exclusively for this purpose. Each bucket truck operator must have the training and ability to connect a rope to the boom and repel from the bucket to the ground. Each operator ran through the training process several times.
